Welcome to Chesterton Academy of Sacramento, our new independent private Catholic high school offering young men and women a rigorous classical education in harmony with the teachings of the Catholic Church.   

At Chesterton Academy of Sacramento, our goal is to inspire every student to strive for excellence, to find their calling in God’s loving plan, and to humbly and gratefully achieve the purpose that God has for them. While providing excellent preparation for college, our program recognizes the vital need to prepare leaders for every walk of life - in the home, the workplace, and the public square - regardless of what additional formal education they may pursue.

Inspired by the charism of G.K. Chesterton, a learned man full of love and joy, students at Chesterton Academy of Sacramento study the timeless classic texts of Western Civilization. These Great Books have for centuries been the means by which educated people both honed their intellectual skills and laid a foundation for a mature understanding of the world and man’s place in it.

By means of these great works, we teach history, philosophy, and literature, as well as logic and theology. A thorough course in math and science gives our students the tools they need to understand and sift through the claims of the modern secular world. Art, music, and drama are an integral part of the curriculum. Each student will explore the rich history of these fine arts and learn some foundational theory and practice.

Classes are taught using the Socratic method: teacher-directed discussion in a seminar format. This tried and true approach involves the student deeply in his own education. Excellence is demanded of each student; the teachers, staff, and board are committed to modeling that excellence, through the grace of God. A large and growing network of such schools has been educating students this way with great success over the last decade and a half.
