New High School Announces North Highlands Location

Sacramento’s newest Catholic high school, Chesterton Academy of Sacramento, has contracted for space adjacent to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in North Highlands. Opening in the fall of 2022, the school property will house up to 240 students.

Chesterton Academy of Sacramento is one of 16 schools like it opening across the country this fall, including three others in Northern California alone. Following an integrated classical curriculum, the students will read the Great Books of Western civilization and learn through discourse centered on primary source texts following the discussion method. As an integrated curriculum, Catholic connections are made throughout the curriculum and attendance at Mass is a part of the daily school schedule. The school will open with freshmen through senior classes being represented in the student body.

“This is going to bring a great opportunity to the community here in North Highlands,” said Fr. Alvaro Perez, pastor of St. Lawrence parish. “The affordability of the tuition provided by the Chesterton Academy model is going to open access to Catholic education to many people who previously would not have been able to afford it.” Chesterton Academy’s tuition is $7,950 per year.

Chesterton Academy of Sacramento belongs to the Chesterton Schools Network, a project of the Society of Gilbert Keith Chesterton. There are currently 34 schools operating as members of the Chesterton Schools Network with 16 schools slated to open in 2022. Thousands of students are currently being educated at Chesterton Academy schools in the US, Canada, Sierra Leone, and Italy.
