Chesterton Academy of Sacramento Welcomes Mr. Harrison Brehm as New Headmaster

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Harrison Brehm will be joining us as our new headmaster beginning July 1st.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mr. Brehm holds a B.A. in history from Christendom College where he received a liberal arts education steeped in the Great Books. He also holds a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. He has dedicated twenty years to Catholic education in both the elementary and high school levels as a teacher and administrator. He most recently served as a department chair and administrator at St. Mary's High School and as principal of St. Luke Catholic Elementary School, both in Stockton. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and discussing literature, playing games and puzzles, and exploring the beauty and history of California with his wife and four children.

Mr. Brehm believes strongly both in the value of a classical education and in the Chesterton Academy model. As he recently shared, “I am excited to bestow what I have received in my formation to the students of Chesterton Academy.  A classical education is not the mere memorization of facts or aiming for success by worldly standards.  A classical education forms the conscience, teaches the mind to think, and brings forth a well-rounded student.  Students achieve this by engaging and wrestling with the arts, humanities, and sciences, exploring the wisdom of our civilization, and above all remaining grounded in the truth of our faith.  Furthermore, the Chesterton model takes the established, proven classical approach to education and infuses it with the joy of our faith.  As St. Francis de Sales said, “A sad saint would be a sorry saint.”  Probably no author has devoted so much ink to the joy and even the mirth of God as G.K. Chesterton.  Chesterton both wrote and exemplified that we should mirror God’s relentless joy in all of our endeavors, and I look forward to participating in the zealous joy, faith, and learning at the Chesterton Academy of Sacramento.”

As we welcome Mr. Brehm to this important leadership position, we also extend our gratitude to Mr. Joseph Moore for his instrumental role as founding Headmaster. His contributions to our school identity and culture have laid the essential groundwork for a joyfully, Catholic school.

All are invited to join us on July 1st at 7pm for a “Meet the Headmaster” gathering in Gabrielli Hall on the Chesterton campus. We look forward to introducing you to Mr. Brehm and his family!
