Chesterton, Dante, and the Disciplines of Lent

  • Gabrielli Hall 4325 Don Julio Boulevard North Highlands, CA, 95660 United States (map)

In his Purgatorio, Dante tells the story of the souls who, though saved, need to be fully liberated from their earthly sins in order to enjoy the blessings of Heaven. The repentant sinners, choosing to endure the sufferings they require to be freed from their slavery to sin, illustrate the joyful Catholicism to be practiced during Lent. This joy is not only evident in G.K. Chesterton, but also embraced by our Academy.

Reading the Purgatorio is recommended, but not necessary.

The lecture is open to all, and refreshments will follow.
